Practice Description:
Mr. Heidelberger has concentrated his practice in family law for over 30 years. Throughout his legal career, he has represented clients in a variety of cases, from jury trials in personal injury and commercial litigation to real estate closings, the preparation of wills, and, most importantly, all phases of family law matters. Mr. Heidelberger's family law experience includes:
    • Trials of contested child custody matters
    • Contested and uncontested adoptions
    • Trials of issues of allocation of marital property
    • The prosecution and defense of claims of maintenance
    • The prosecution and defense of claims of parentage (paternity)
    • Permanent relocation and removal of children from Illinois, Orders of Protection, and related matters
He is proud to be a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Recently, he qualified to be considered for appointment by Cook County Domestic Relations Division judges as a child's representative and/or guardian ad litem in family law, where he represents the children of parties engaged in custody and/or visitation disputes. In addition, he also has been asked by those seeking divorce to assist as a mediator to resolve their issues outside the courtroom.

Over the years he has represented both men and women in the prosecution and defense of family law issues and has worked to build long-term relationships with his clients. Many of the issues associated with divorce continue after the divorce is final, and his clients return to him for modifications, enforcement of court orders, and other post-divorce legal problems.

The cornerstone of Mr. Heidelberger's legal philosophy is maintenance of quality relationships with the people he serves. He treats his clients with integrity and respect for their needs, goals, and objectives. He aims to deliver intelligent legal representation that includes regular honest and open communication with individuals facing the challenges of family conflict.
