Practice Description:  
Ms. Coakley specializes in trademark matters with over 30 years of combined experience as in-house and outside counsel. She works closely with clients to develop customized worldwide strategies to achieve their business objectives in branding, and prosecutes, enforces, licenses and maintains some of the world's most famous trademarks in over 120 countries. She has extensive prosecution and administrative litigation experience before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She has first-chaired several civil jury trials. Her practice also includes issues involving counterfeit goods, customs enforcement and seizures; e-commerce, domain name disputes, dilution and unfair advertising and trade practices.

She assisted in developing the Harness Dickey's proprietary extranet portal, which allows clients to access, track and manage their entire IP portfolio online in real time.

In addition to providing clients with prompt and practical solutions, Ms. Coakley is a certified neutral commercial arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. She was appointed to the Panel of Neutrals for the INTA Alternative Dispute Resolution Program, is a certified mediator and has served as an expert witness and a teaching fellow. Prior to joining the firm, she worked for the chief justice of the Michigan Supreme Court and was in-house counsel for the world's largest retailer, where she held the positions of vice president and intellectual property counsel.
