Practice Description:
Charles S. Beach has taken hundreds of DUI cases to trial and motion, achieving outstanding results for his clients. Mr. Beach limits his practice to DUI and further limits himself to practice in Cook County, Illinois. He is an accomplished author, lecturer, and teacher of DUI law and cross examination methods. He authored "Traffic Court Practice and Procedure" for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education, considered the authoritative manual on how to handle matters at the Chicago Traffic Court. Mr. Beach has worked for the Cook County Public Defender's Office and clerked for Justice Judith Koehler in the 3rd District of Illinois.

Notable Cases and Results:
People v. MJ — MJ was arrested for failure to stop at a red light, driving under the influence, as well as driving on a suspended or revoked license. Based on his background, including three prior DUI arrests and dispositions, he was upgraded to a felony charge. Evidence included a video of the stop and subsequent arrest. At a hearing on a motion to quash the arrest, Mr. Beach alleged that the Defendant never actually entered the intersection and, had he entered that particular intersection, he would have been issued a citation by the City of Chicago based on the photo enforcement of that intersection. Motion granted, case dismissed.

People v. Dybas — Client was facing a three-year Statutory Summary Suspension. Mr. Beach challenged the suspension based upon a Fourth Amendment violation that the officer did not have a reason to stop the client. Suspension was rescinded.

People v. Szlembarski — Client charged with DUI. The officer claimed the client failed sobriety testing. Mr. Beach based defense on a language barrier. The client spoke Polish. Not guilty.

People v. Hudson — Client involved in an auto accident. Multiple witnesses testified against client regarding physical control and intoxication. Defense was based upon the accident causing injury and that was wrongly interpreted as intoxication. Not guilty.
