Practice Description:  
Mr. Laurie practices construction law nationwide, engaging in construction dispute resolution and contract negotiation. He represents owners, developers, general and specialty contractors, and design professionals with respect to public and private projects (commercial, institutional, and residential). He has extensive experience in scope of work disputes, delay and acceleration claims, defective work disputes, and Americans with Disabilities Act claims.

His practice includes:
Contract Negotiation: Mr. Laurie counsels his clients on project delivery methods, negotiates complex construction and design professional agreements for all types of delivery methods, including design-build; multi-prime; and engineer, procure and construct.

Dispute Avoidance: Mr. Laurie counsels many clients on a real time basis during construction to allow them to avoid disputes and resolve potential claims fairly and cost effectively.

Alternative Dispute Resolution: Mr. Laurie designs and participates in numerous alternative dispute resolution methods as both an advocate and a neutral. He has been trained and certified as an arbitrator and mediator by the American Arbitration Association, and he serves as a neutral for Construction Mediation Solutions, LLC.

Construction Litigation: Mr. Laurie litigates construction disputes with emphasis on complex construction matters in both state and federal courts. His practical experience includes both the prosecution and defense of multi-million dollar design malpractice, warranty, acceleration and delay, performance specifications and change order claims.

Notable Cases and Results:  
His representative matters include negotiating contracts on behalf of Chicago Bears for the $600 million renovation of Soldier Field; prosecuting a $35 million design delay claim on behalf of Arlington International Racetrack against Skidmore Owings and Merrill; and serving as national construction counsel to Sears, Roebuck and Co.
