Practice Description:  
Mr. Heinrich's practice focuses on a variety of environmental matters including enforcement litigation, compliance counseling, remediation, Superfund, RCRA citizen suits Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act and environmental aspects of real estate transactions. Brett has negotiated a wide variety of consent decrees and settlements as well as favorable solid and hazardous waste, air and water permit terms for clients. Over the course of his career, he has represented a broad spectrum of industries including: manufacturing, building materials, waste management, cosmetics, waste transportation, chemical, paper, insurance and food.

Mr. Heinrich began his career as a prosecutor for the Illinois Attorney General's office where he tried numerous white-collar and criminal tax cases across the state. As part of the criminal enforcement team at the Illinois Attorney General's office, he successfully prosecuted the first Calculated Criminal Disposal of Hazardous Waste case in Illinois. In 1991, Brett joined Waste Management, Inc., and held various positions including Senior Area Counsel, Senior Litigation Counsel and Environmental Counsel. During his nearly eight years at Waste Management, he became a nationally recognized Superfund practitioner and environmental litigator representing various subsidiaries at more than 50 federal and state superfund sites. He also was responsible for dealing with contaminated property, environmental due diligence, and compliance counseling for corporate operations and transactions throughout the United States.
