His trial experience includes the defense of employers in employment law cases, and the representation of colleges, universities and religious orders in many different types of cases; his health care experience involves the representation of nursing homes and long term care facilities for the developmentally disabled.|
Notable Cases and Results:
Estate of Eric Morse, et. al. v. The Chicago Housing Authority, et. al. (2001) A seven-week trial involving the death of a 5-year-old boy thrown from the 14th floor of a vacant CHA apartment. After 5 days of deliberations the jury was deadlocked 10-2 for the defendants. Andy Kopon represented the CHA.
Clay v. Kuhl, Illinois Supreme Court Case 2000, established the defense of the statute of limitations for organizations where child sexual abuse has been alleged. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the defendant and reversed the lower court without remand.
