| Practice Description: |
Stephen L. Golan co-founded Golan Christie Taglia in 1993. As the firm's Managing Partner, Stephen understands first hand the many issues faced by business owners. Stephen represents closely held companies, from start ups to businesses exceeding $500 million in sales per year.
Stephen handles the full spectrum of general business matters, such as whether to structure a new entity as a corporation, partnership, or limited liability company. He also addresses more specific business needs, including shareholder buy/sell matters for closely held and family businesses. These matters often involve issues dealing with succession plans, rights of outsiders, and phantom stock plans. Further, Stephen has significant legal experience concerning the wine and spirits industry, including supply and distribution agreements and other regulatory work.
Stephen's focus is to spend the time necessary to get to know the client and understand the client's organization. By definition, that requires a significant investment of time and energy. He expects his clients to feel comfortable contacting him any time to discuss their issues. Stephen is a Certified Public Accountant and has his MBA, enabling him to understand his client's finances, needs and ultimate goals. Because of this strong business focus, Stephen acts as trusted friend and advisor. His advice is often as much business as legal.
Prior to co-founding Golan Christie Taglia, Stephen was a partner with Seyfarth Shaw Fairweather and Geraldson, where he started his career as an associate.
