James R. Figliulo is a trial lawyer with over 27 years of experience in business related litigation.
Mr. Figliulo has extensive experience in jury and bench trials and arbitrations in federal and state courts representing clients in a wide variety of disputes, including claims involving legal malpractice, accounting malpractice, contract, partnership, corporate, securities, fraud, business torts, real estate, eminent domain, construction, breach of fiduciary duty, employment matters, class actions and equitable remedies. He has also been retained by many Chicago law firms and individual lawyers to represent them in litigation and to provide counsel concerning a variety of partnership disputes.
Mr. Figliulo is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. The American College of Trial Lawyers is widely considered to be the premier professional organization in America. It is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is by invitation extended only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill as advocates and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism and civility.
Mr. Figliulo is a founder, past president, and Master of the Bench for the Chicago Inn of Court, which is part of the American Inns of Court, an organization that promotes professionalism, excellence, ethics and civility among trial lawyers and judges. The Chicago Inn of Court was founded in 1988 and includes among its members many of the best trial lawyers and judges in Chicago.
Mr. Figliulo is also among a handful of Chicago area trial lawyers included in The Best Lawyers in America. Lawyers are selected to be included in this prestigious publication based on a survey of their peers.
Mr. Figliulo was recently elected to the Board of Governors of the 7th Circuit Bar Association. The 7th Circuit Bar Association works closely with the trial and appellate judges in the 7th Circuit to promote an efficient and high quality of practice in the federal courts.
Mr. Figliulo received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1974. He was the recipient of the William Spaid Memorial Scholar Award at the University of Arizona College of Law and served as Chairman of its Moot Court Board. Mr. Figliulo attended St. Ignatius High School in Chicago and graduated cum laude from Saint Mary's College in Minnesota. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Arizona, the Supreme Court of the United States, the Seventh and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois, and the District of Arizona. He is a member of the Trial Bar of the Northern District of Illinois.

Over the years Mr. Figliulo has successfully represented many clients including McDonald's Corporation, KPMG LLP, Walsh Higgins, Walsh Construction Company, American National Bank, Pillsbury, Häagen-Dazs, many law firms and individual lawyers, and numerous small to mid-size businesses and individuals.
Following his graduation in 1974 from the University of Arizona College of Law, Mr. Figliulo joined the law firm of Miller, Pitt & Feldman, P.C. in Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Figliulo became a partner in that firm in 1978 and tried numerous business and real estate related jury cases during his six years practicing law in Tucson.
Mr. Figliulo returned to Chicago in 1980 and joined the litigation law firm of Foran, Wiss & Schultz (later known as Foran & Schultz). Mr. Figliulo became an equity partner in the firm in 1982. In 1996, after 16 years at Foran & Schultz, Mr. Figliulo left the firm to form the new law firm, Figliulo & Silverman, P.C.
