Mr. Breen has consistently been named by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in Criminal Defense. For the last several years, his peers have ranked him in the top three of those lawyers who practice in his field. His practice is trial oriented, and he has defended numerous high profile cases in both the federal and state courts. His clients range from individuals, public officials, and judicial officers to corporations and political organizations.
Many of his cases have been in the national arena, and the cases, as well as Mr. Breen, have appeared on network news shows including 60 Minutes. Mr. Breen was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1993. He received the American Bar Association Pro Bono Award in 1996. He has received additional awards from national and local bar associations. He has served on the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Jury Instructions, the Chicago Bar Association Committee for Judicial Evaluations, and presently serves by appointment of the Governor as Chairman of the State Appellate Defender Committee. He is a partner at Breen Pugh and Associates.
